Soft green eyes of corduroy
Worn smooth at knees
Cotton wales silkened
Venues verdant velvet
From diving, rolling in auburn leaf of oak
Tagging, freeze or otherwise, with the kid next door
Or little Suzy from around the bend
Bend me to the comfort of your words
As much as your eyes, those entrance me
Make me dance in adolescence, reminiscent
Pieces of my mind, worn old wool sweater
Baggy jeans memories
Once in every while, I take them
Out of their cedar chest seclusion
Put them on and walk around in them
Sometimes you have to walk in your own moccasins
For a change.
